Industrial hemp is a controlled substance in the U.S. because the plant is the same species as marijuana, without the THC. But the 2014 farm bill allows states to grow it for research. So a handful of North Dakota farmers participated in the state's first hemp pilot program this season. Our Agweek crew checked out the harvest at one plot near Jamestown.
