🔸 Who is Steve Howard?🔸
Campaigner for climate change and creating innovative solutions for the future, Steve Howard, is a key figure in the business world. Having worked for retail giant, IKEA, and a sustainability leader for top organisations, Steve is the ideal speaker qualified to discuss practical ways your business can do more for the environment.
Pioneering change for the global retailer, Steve enjoyed seven years as a sustainability expert at IKEA, starting in 2011. The majority of his time with IKEA was spent developing and implementing future proofed strategies to ensure the businesses were as environmentally friendly as possible.
Some of the key plans Steve executed include the People and Planet Positive strategy and provided research that led to three billion euros of investment into wind power. Positioning IKEA in the Top 5 Leading Sustainable Businesses, was Steve's greatest achievement before stepping down in 2017.
Always having a keen interest in the environment and natural world, Steve studied ecology at London Metropolitan University, before completing his PhD in environmental physics in 1996 at the University of Nottingham. Armed with the knowledge to pursue a valuable career in sustainability, Steve founded The Climate Group in 2003 as his first entrepreneurial venture. Alongside his role spearheading IKEA's eco friendly mission, Steve was the co-chair of the World Economic Forum.
Chosen to represent the Environment and Natural Resource Global Future Council, he was tasked with developing worldwide strategies to solve sustainability challenges. In 2014 he founded ‘We Mean Business’ which saw a number of organisations collaborate to work with some of the biggest businesses in the world, on tackling climate change.
Dedicating his time to campaigning for innovative future proofing for the environment, Steve Howard is a committed environmentalist and expert on aiding businesses in how they can evolve to be more ethical.
His 2013 TEDxGlobal talk showcased just how influential Steve Howard’s methods can be, with a mission to challenge others saying ‘Let’s Go All-In On Selling Sustainability'.
